Over View — Inca Jungle 4 Days
The 4-Day / 3-Night Inca Jungle is the ultimate adventure tour for active travelers and nature lovers. The route gives you a real connection with the surroundings — from the snow-capped peaks of the Vilcabamba range to the lush Cusco jungle, where elevation dips to just 3,937 ft (1,200 m).
The itinerary combines downhill mountain biking, moderate trekking along ancient Inca paths, and optional white-water rafting and ziplining. Your journey ends with a guided visit to the majestic citadel of Machu Picchu. Comfortable basic lodging, expert guides, and personalized service guarantee a safe, action-packed experience.
Day 1 : Cusco – Abra Málaga – Biking – Rafting – Santa María
We kick off with hotel pickup in Cusco at 6:00 a.m. We’ll drive through the Sacred Valley with incredible mountain views. After about 2 hours, we’ll make a quick stop in Ollantaytambo, then continue to the Abra Málaga Pass (14,272 ft / 4,350 m) — where the biking adventure begins. You’ll get your gear and a quick safety briefing before starting the 2-hour downhill bike ride to Alfamayo, with views of snow-capped peaks like Verónica along the way. After biking, we’ll continue by bus to Santa María for lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll do an optional rafting session on the river. Dinner and overnight at a basic hostel in Santa María.
Day 2 : Santa María– Quellomayo – Hot Springs – Santa Teresa
Early wake-up for a 6:00 a.m. breakfast. After eating, we’ll start the hike — first along a dirt road, then onto the original Inca Trail that connected Machu Picchu with Vilcabamba. During the walk, you’ll see banana, yucca, coffee, and coca plantations with panoramic views of the Vilcanota Valley. We’ll reach Quellomayo for lunch and a break. Then we’ll continue hiking about 3 more hours along the river to the Cocalmayo Hot Springs, where you can soak and relax. Finally, a short 15-minute drive takes us to Santa Teresa for dinner and overnight at a basic hostel.
Day 3 : Santa Teresa – Zipline – Hidroeléctrica – Aguas Calientes
Breakfast at the hotel at 6:30 a.m. to fuel up for more adventures. Our transport picks you up for the zipline activity — you’ll fly across 4 cables and a hanging bridge (optional activity). After the zipline, we’ll drive to Hidroeléctrica for a delicious lunch. Then we’ll hike about 2 hours along the train tracks to Aguas Calientes, where we’ll have dinner and our guide will walk us to our hotels.
Day 4 : Machu Picchu– Return To Cusco
We’re up at 5:00 a.m. to start the hike to Machu Picchu through forests. We’ll cross the Ruinas Bridge (opens at 5:00 a.m.) where you show your passport and entry ticket. The uphill hike takes about 1 hour to reach the main entrance for a 7:00 a.m. entry. Our guide will be waiting to lead us through Machu Picchu based on our circuit type. During the tour, you’ll hit incredible photo spots.

Do I need to be an expert in mountain biking or trekking?
You don’t need to be a professional athlete, but a reasonable fitness level is recommended. The biking portion consists of downhill stretches on both paved and dirt roads, while the trekking involves moderate uphill sections. Traveler Tip: If you prefer not to bike, you can always travel in our support vehicle.
What happens if it rains during the tour?
Our tours operate rain or shine. In the high jungle (cloud forest), rain is common and usually passes quickly. We recommend bringing a rain poncho and quick-dry clothing. Please note: If weather conditions compromise safety for the rafting activity, it will be suspended.
Are there mosquitoes on the route?
Yes, especially in Santa Maria and Santa Teresa. It is essential to bring a repellent with a high DEET percentage. We also suggest wearing long pants during the hikes to stay protected.
Can I leave my large suitcase in Cusco?
Absolutely. In fact, we highly recommend it. Almost all hotels in Cusco offer free luggage storage. For the Inca Jungle Trek, you should only carry a 20-30 liter daypack with essentials for the 4-day journey.
Is the food safe and are there vegetarian options?
Yes, we partner with local restaurants that meet strict hygiene standards. We provide vegetarian and vegan options at no extra cost; simply let us know your dietary preferences at the time of booking.
Which Machu Picchu circuit will I visit?
Our package includes Circuit 2 (The Classic Route). This is the most comprehensive circuit and allows for the iconic postcard photo of the citadel. Should official availability require a shift to Circuit 3, we will inform you well in advance.
Are the Rafting and Ziplining activities safe?
Yes. Both activities are managed by certified specialists using professional-grade gear (helmets, life jackets, harnesses). These are optional activities for those looking for an extra adrenaline rush in the Andes.
Is there internet or electricity during the trek?
You will find electricity to charge your devices at the lodges in Santa Maria and Santa Teresa. Wi-Fi is limited and may have an additional cost in remote areas. Connection is significantly better once you reach Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo).
